Hello. From the moment I picked up your book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.

I lived in Mitoma, which is two train stops away from Tonoharu. I named my graphic novel after Tonoharu because I thought it had a nice ring to it.

Not that you should take much stock in my opinion since you and I are complete strangers, but I’d go back and visit if I were you. I think it would be a moving, if not bittersweet, experience.

I’m wondering if you actually lived in the village called Tonoharu near Hakata, because I did. For two years 1970-71 while in the Army I rented a house from a farmer, made friends, and started to study Japanese. I ended up moving to Tokyo to go to ICU, graduated and lived in Japan for ten yrs. I haven’t been to Tonoharu for over 30 yrs, mainly because I almost married someone there and I fear the changes which have occured. Do you think I should go back? I’m going to Kyoto in Jan and could swing down there on the Nozomi. I’m interested in your opinion.
